Health, Energized, and Excited about the Future, or…

Are you starting your year off healthy, energized and excited for your future, or are your thoughts filled more with ‘want’, ‘don’t want’, and ‘can’t’?

My family began this year with a death in the family.  This past weekend we travelled to Vancouver Island for the service and discovered a common discussion about the severity and volume of people with the flu.  Sure enough my husband was struck with the much talked about fever and other flu symptoms.  As you know, the result of feeling ‘under the weather’ is a lethargic attitude towards anything productive.  Even everyday activities like eating and bathing are a chore when you’re sick.  But, God says in Isaiah 53:5,6, “he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.  We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all“.

When you are surrounded by negative talk, the result is that it’s harder to stay energized and optimistic.  You mind essentially get’s ‘sick’ and your body soon follows.  When your body doesn’t feel well, everything is that much harder to do and a downward cycle of reduced productivity leads to reduced optimism and essentially a poverty mindset leads to a poverty of results.  This doesn’t mean that if you are sick you have a poverty mindset.  It means, that what you listen to, what you feed your mind affects your physical body, which affects your mind and your results.

Whether it’s health, relationships, or finances God says, ‘we are healed’ through the blood of Jesus, but we continue to ‘turn to our own ways’ even when we read that ““For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, ”declares the Lord.  “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8,9).  Every area of our life is created and connected and held together by the Word of God.  Jesus is the Word.  Jesus gives us life.  Our words either speak life or death (Proverbs 18:21).

Our financial situation is first and foremost a product of the words we hear and the words we speak.  If we continuously hear fear, doubt, scarcity and seemingly good strategies that are only 1/2 truths, our words and our thoughts will believe these and be at conflict to what the Word of God says, ultimately reinforcing a poverty mindset that seem normal because everyone around is also talking and thinking the same.

My family experienced the impact of this with health this past weekend, and I know from far too much personal and professional experience that this concept affects finances and relationships the same way it does health.  I invite you to join me and others from the Financial Grace community on Monday Mornings at 7:30 am PST as we share prayers for all kinds of life experiences and situations that are impacted by or, that impact, financial decisions and results we are starting our week spiritually healthy, energized and excited for the future in all areas of our life!
