“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” (Hebrews 4:12 NLT)
Sometimes it’s easier to adapt to the uncomfortable situation you know rather than create a new and unknown one. The best way, easiest way, least expensive way, fastest way to learn about anything different, therefore making it less uncomfortable, is to read. Read what is the question, though. In school we read as part of the curriculum and perhaps something extra for entertainment. However, reading for intellectual understanding or emotional enjoyment will feed your soul which comprises your mind, will and emotions. What we aren’t likely taught in school is how feeding our spirit by reading and learning God’s Word in the bible will provide the foundation for strength, comfort, wisdom and confidence to navigate whatever situations life throws your way. Reading from the Word of God as well as from positive, inspirational, encouraging books from others who have applied God’s Word and are able to provide direction and inspiration will first give you belief, then support and then the how to for taking on new and exciting endeavors in your life.
Why? Because you will get ideas and thoughts directly from God through the Holy Spirit that you won’t get from your peers because God’s Word is will speak to you about specific areas of your life and nudge you to move in a particular direction that is relevant to your unique situation, skills, desires, purposes, etc. Read from the Word of God and positive inspiring books for at least 15 minutes a day, I’ve heard it said that by the end of a year you will be further ahead than 95% of the population who instead feed their mind on entertainment, social media, news and worldly publications.
